Medical Alert Charms for Bracelets

Medical ID Alert, Medical

We decided a few years ago, to buy a medical alert bracelet for our Peanut allergy child. I looked around at the options and decided on the Allerbling bracelet. We liked the Allerbling bracelet for two reasons: the bright orange color and the option to customize based on his specific allergy.

The bright orange bracelet color with the red and white medical allergy symbol is easy to see by others. I find that it’s a visual reminder to others (teachers, substitute teachers, caregivers, lunch room attendants, playdate moms etc.) about my son’s severe Peanut allergy. It is also a way to communicate to others if such an emergency situation would occur that he has a severe peanut allergy and might need an Epi Pen.

It is also a good conversation starter if another adult notices it, and asks about it. Kyle also has had many kids at school ask him about his bracelet, and he tells them that he’s allergic to peanuts.

The Allerbling can be customized by attaching a specific symbol (called a charm) of the allergen your child is allergic to. With our son, he has the Peanut charm on his bracelet, along with the red and white medical alert symbol charm. The bracelet allows for up to 4 allergy charms to be placed on the bracelet.

He can wear his Allerbling bracelet in the bathtub and swimming pool, without any problems. I send him to school with his bracelet each day. One morning he asked me why I make him wear his bracelet to school since his teacher knows about his allergy. I replied to him, that his bracelet let’s all of the other teachers know about his Peanut allergy in case he would get sick. He thought it was a good idea.

I would strongly urge you to purchase some type of medical alert bracelet or necklace to communicate your child’s medical needs in case he (or you) cannot communicate it to the appropriate medical team, if such an emergency situation would occur. Seconds count when an anaphylactic reaction occurs, so please try to plan ahead!

In my family ... for generations....

Generations of my family have had the new daddies give very nice jewelry as gifts to their wifes when the new babies are born. In fact, my mom has a collection of very nice opal rings, necklaces and earrings from five or 6 generations back that were given at the birth of a baby. Along with each piece of jewelry, someone in the family has labeled each piece to show the name of the child who was born when each piece was given.
The opal is said to be many things including the most powerful of healing stones, the stone of hope, the stone of great achievement and even the "stone of the Gods"
